Furtwangen University (HFU) is a state-run university of applied sciences with approximately 4500 students, located across 3 campuses in the Black Forest, one of the most beautiful regions in Germany. We offer forward-looking degree programmes with workplace relevance, as well as exciting research opportunities, high-tech facilities, and close links with the business sector – all within a dynamic international community with a family atmosphere. Over 60 innovative and practical degree programmes in the areas of engineering, computer science and business information systems, health and life sciences, digital media and international business are offered at both bachelor’s and master’s levels. An increasing number of programmes are taught entirely in English. We also offer PhD opportunities.

Our strong international orientation means we welcome students from around the world and encourage our students to take exchange semesters abroad. We make this easy by providing all the organisational support students need, including the option of studying at one of 150 partner universities around the globe.

Furtwangen, home to our first and largest campus, may look at first sight like a traditional, sleepy Black Forest town, but in reality, it is a bustling student town with a dynamic international community.
